There is a huge Hot Air Balloon Event in Helotes and as a result this will be the procedure for getting on campus…
2 Officers will be on campus starting at 6:30 am. They will help facilitate parking, getting the buses and trailers in/out, etc. Anticipated downtime at the Festival is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. so we’re hoping there will not be parking issues during that time.
Band Arrival for Contest – 2:30 p.m. – Park and Drop Off in the Student Lot – We don’t anticipate overflow traffic from the Festival yet but if there’s an issue the officers will open the practice pad for your people. Please don’t open it early as we don’t want festival-goers to see it as an option.
Buses Arrive for Contest – Approx. 3:30 p.m. – Load in Student Lot as usual
Buses Depart for Contest – 4 p.m. – Plan to depart campus as usual; if traffic is backed up Officers may open Rhodes and send buses through there.
Band Returns from Contest – Approx. 7:15 p.m. – Recommend coming Braun to Leslie. As the first trailer or lead bus gets close to school, someone will call NISD Police Dispatch and ask them to alert the officers on campus the Band is returning. They will open the gates allowing trailers and buses to return through Rhodes Transportation avoiding traffic approaching the festival grounds. Unload Buses in the Bus Loop like game return. Trailers unload in Student Parking; Parent Pick-up in Student Parking. The Festival will be in full swing at this time so we anticipate this being the most difficult time to get onto/ off campus so ask parents and students to plan accordingly and be patient. We encourage carpooling for self-parking and pick-up.
