Important Info About a Friend

Many of our Band Family know Mark Palacios as an officer of the O’Connor Athletic Booster Club, as a parent, as an always smiling  near-constant presence around campus and at football games, as a great supporter of the Panther Band, and as the designer and manufacturer of a lot of our Band Booster clothing and merchandise.  Unfortunately, Mark suffered a stroke a few days ago and is hospitalized.  We all need to keep the Palacios family in our thoughts and prayers and hope for a speedy recovery.

To help out and to show our support, the Band Boosters are invited to a BBQ fundraiser at Cooter Brown’s Saloon (Bandera Road and 1604 in the Silverado Theater Shopping Center) NEXT Sunday, February 8th, from 2:00 ’til 5:00 PM.  Suggested donation is $10.00 per plate.  If you want to contribute food or supplies to the effort to help maximize the fundraising, please contact Mickey R at 823-5089 — they need meat, potatoes, serving items, et cetera — but please call Mickey before buying anything to coordinate the donations.

Also, on Tuesday, February 10, Bahama Buck’s Shaved Ice will host a fundraiser from 6:00 ’til 10:00 PM at their location at 8910 Bandera Road.

Again, Mark is a terrific friend of the Panther Band, an amazing source of information and suggestions, and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

Panthers Honor Joshua Biggles

The Panther Band Boosters join the O’Connor community in mourning the loss of incoming junior Joshua Biggles, a member of the varsity football team who passed away yesterday.  In Joshua’s memory, there will be a candlelight vigil at O’Connor at 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening.

Also, there will be a dinner to raise funds for Joshua’s funeral expenses on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in front of the O’Connor gymnasium.   The BBQ dinner will include beef, sausage, and trimmings for a suggested donation of $10.00.  Panther Band members who attend the dinner are encouraged to wear their band shirts.

The organizers of the dinner are requesting donations of bottled water, plates, picnic packs, and sliced bread.  To contribute supplies or for more information, please contact Mickey Ramos at 823-5089.
