About All-Region Auditions
Besides earning the prestige of being recognized as one of the best high school musicians in Region XI, students who earn a slot in either the All-Region Band or All-Region Orchestra receive the honor of playing in a concert featuring the region’s top high school musicians. In each instrument, a select number of All-Region musicians also qualify to advance to the TMEA All-Area competition on January 9th to vie for a spot in the TMEA All-State Bands and Orchestras.
Students in the A-1 band are required to audition to maintain membership and the performance is a percentage of their grade. Members of the A-2 band are expected to prepare the etudes with the option of attending tryouts or perform the audition etudes for the O’Connor band directors for a grade. Members of the A-3 Concert Band are encouraged, but not required, to participate.
Those selected to the All-State level will earn the distinguished honor to attend and participate in the 2018 TMEA Convention, Clinics and Grand Concerts, to be held February 14-17 2018 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
