O’Connor selected as the 6A Feature Band at the 80th Annual Fiesta Battle of Flowers Band Festival

I am very proud to announce the 2107 O’Connor Panther Band has been selected as the 6A Feature Band at the 80th Annual Battle of Flowers Band Festival. They join 4A Central Catholic (2017 TAPPS State Champion), 5A McCollum (Only SA School to make the UIL 5A Area G Finals this year) as the three schools to be featured between the Parade of Bands competition of the other 30 schools. The OC band will perform the entire “WELCOME TO JUNGLE” Show one more time for a sold out audience traditionally between 10-13 thousand people at Alamo Stadium on Thursday April 26th. We will be ordering tickets starting in November. Once we start ordering tickets. It is crucial you get your order in to our band boosters before December break (we will set a very specific deadline). The Fiesta commission will block out and reserve the seats closest to the 50 yard line for the 3 feature bands! If you do not order in this first round then you will need to order directly from the Fiesta commission and your seat will not be as good and possibly just general admission.

Congratulations on this fantastic honor and showcase of the Panther Band!!!!!

Students from more than 30 high school bands from San Antonio and surrounding areas will join forces to present an entertaining musical evening that is undoubtedly one of Fiesta’s most popular events. Some of the highlights will include Herald Trumpets saluting Fiesta royalty, parades of high stepping bands with colorful flags and twirlers, and specially chosen feature bands performing their award-winning UIL shows for the crowd. At the end of the evening, all 4,000 musicians will perform together on the field in a spectacular crowd-pleasing finale set to fireworks!

The Band Festival is organized and sponsored by the Battle of Flowers® Association, which was chartered in 1914 with the mission of celebrating Texas history. The Band Festival first became a part of Fiesta in 1935. An executive committee composed of area band directors and music educators works with the Battle of Flowers® Association volunteers to plan the evening’s program.
